Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, also known as Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed as Dreamville Records' first female artist for Dreamville Records by J. Cole. In October of 2016 Ari Lennox debuted her Pho EP. This was the moment that she gained recognition. Shea Butter Baby her debut studio album came out on May 7th 2019. Ari Lennox uploaded her music to the internet in 2012, when she dropped her the Five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. In 2014 she continued to share her music over the internet including her independently released single Bound. The song was included in Omen's Elephant Eyes and from Sweat It Out, on the 21st of July, 2015. In the following year, her music was circulating around the Dreamville team as J. Cole wanted her to collaborate with him on some potential references to Rihanna. In December 2008, it was announced that Rihanna had been signed with Dreamville Records. Backseat, a track she recorded alongside Cozz on The Revenge of the Dreamers II collaboration album. In October 2016, she released her first EP Pho. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change as well as performing in The 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as the opening artist. In 2018 she went on to be a guest on two songs with her label-mates EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. The debut album of Ari Lennox Shea Butter Baby was released on July 16, 2018. The album's first single, Whipped Cream, from the album came out September 5, 2018 with a music video. Then, on the 9th of November she dropped two additional singles titled 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). On November 13, she released two additional singles titled One and Pdigree. One as well as Pdigree. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby then made an appearance on the Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. She released this track as a single in order to announce her debut album Creed II on 26 February 2019. On February 20, 2019, a music video was released to promote the song. The track has received over three million hits on YouTube within its debut week. In December of 2018, she was an opening act for From East Atlanta With Love Tour. From East Atlanta With Love Tour together with 6LACK.
